In the competitive world, it is an irrefutable fact that education has changed significantly. The written examination to access the overall assessment of the students was considered valid and in today’s era it is still useful. There are many formal ways to access the performance of the child other than simply checking written assessment. so Is it neccessary to still opt written examination to evaluate and access the overall performance of the students? I will discuss my viewpoints in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, written examination is the most fundamental and essential part of education starting from kinder garden to the higher level degrees; therefore, all the students are judged by the same parameters with written assessment, teachers come to know about the grammar, spelling, perception, expressions and the written fluency of the students. Moreover, the child can learn how to manage the time. Adding , the re-evaluation of exams can be done if need as it becomes a permanent record.

In contrary , there are several other methods which should be used by teachers and mentors to check the overall performance of the students in school or college. The oral and practical presentation of the subjects helps to pupil to do communication in live. If any person does not know how to express the knowledge through written form, then he can be judged through oral examination. For example one friend of mine who was not good in written examination but did well in oral interview got good marks and finally selected in a multinational company. Ever since the time the technological advancements took place, the lecturers in every college have started using the seminars and oral presentations to check the confidence, attitude and communication level of the student.

To conclude, it can be said that although written examination is requisite and necessary but other methods to test the capability, ability, fluency, quickness and performance of the students should not be marginalised under ant circumstance.
