In the competitive era, various companies utilize myriad marketing strategies to increase their profits. many business companies consider offering discounts as a good way to increase sales. customer satisfaction is the key to building brand. There are the contradictory opinions expressed by many people that whether the companies should offer discounts to their customers all time or not? However, this can be a two-edged sword. I will discuss my viewpoints in the following paragraphs.

To commence with, various marketing strategies lead to increment in sales. Many businesses offer discounts in particular season in order to make clearance of their old stock and provide available space for the new stock. Moreover, it encourages buyers to purchase quickly and seller will get the payment soon. In this way, any seller can grow his business at the faster pace and build wealth for their company. sometimes, buyers also get allured to buy items which are not on sale. Also, various strategies have merits for the customers which can buy items at reduced prices.

On the other hand, for the companies, although the large quantities of goods have been sold during discounted periods but the profit margin will decline as goods are sold at reduced prices. probing further, it encourages the customers to buy the products only at the time of sales and consumers will be in a habit of asking discounts all the time. Therefore, these customers will not be loyal at all Moving further, a shop that offers discounts always provides a reputation that the business is not doing well and this, in turn, may put off many customers who may stop visiting the store.

In conclusion, it is not an easy task to decide whether to offer discounts or not but a business needs to consider these factors closely in order to run successfully.
