HOW TO FIND PACKET SIZE IN PACKET SWITCHING NETWORK?

This question asked in JAN 2017 PAPER 3

Question 28:

In a packet switching network, if the message size is 48 bytes and each packet contains a header of 3 bytes. If 24 packets are required to transmit the message, the packet size is ……

(1) 2 bytes

(2) 1 byte

(3) 4 bytes

(4) 5 bytes

Explanation:

Write given data in question. say;

Message size is 48 bytes.

Each packet contains a header of 3 bytes.

Packets are required to transmit is 24 packets.

The packet size = (Message size / Packets are required to transmit) + size of Packet

                      = (48 bytes / 24 packets) + 3 =  2 bytes + 3 bytes = 5 bytes.
